Favored South Indian Recipe - Achappam
About one third of the Indian population is vegetarian and majority of them reside in the Southern and North Western parts of the country. South India has got its own special type of food which is not common in other parts of the country. To day they are gaining popularity not only in all parts of the country but world over. South Indian Recipes like dosa, idli, bara and upma have now become household names for breakfast in family or restaurants.
However, there are a few non-vegetarian recipes too in South India. One of the most favored South Indian Recipes is Achappam. It is an ideal snack and goes well with either tea or coffee. It is also one of the easiest to prepared India Recipes.
Ingredients of this non-vegetarian recipe are flour, two eggs, two cups of grated coconut, two table spoon sugars, half a table spoon of Vanilla essence, two tablespoon of Sesame seeds, a pinch of salt and oil to fry. Place the flour in a big mixing bowl, extract and mix the milk of coconut in it and keep aside. Beat the eggs in a bowl, one at a time and combine it with flour mixture, sugar, sesame seed, essence and salt and mix well. Heat oil high and put the mixture in it for a minute. Turn carefully to fry both sides. Once fried take it out and drain excess oil.
Serve with other Indian Food like rice or use as snacks with tea and coffee and serve with chutney or prickle.
