Direct And Indirect Rapid Prototypes
The process of Rapid Prototyping is normally used to create a model for the original end product that may or may not have defects for rectification. The normal method is that the manufacturer brings out models for their clients who has ordered for the products or are going to market such products.
Normally two systems are used for the rapid prototyping. One is the indirect or the secondary process. The other is the direct process. In the secondary process the part made using the rapid prototype is ordinarily used as one of the models for the final product. The parts that are so manufactured using the rapid prototyping system are also created in few numbers or low volumes.
The other process is the direct process. The process is mostly used where you require meeting the specific applications and requirements of molding or casting. They might be in the form of basic rapid prototypes. These processes may be any one among the usual RP processes like the stereolithography or the selective laser sintering. You may also use unique RP methods specifically devised for any of the specific applications.
In fact divergent technologies are used to create rapid prototyping. The process has been evolving over the passage of time. Sometimes methods like SLS white is used catering to the requirements of the specific applications for which the prototyping is made. Additive fabrication technologies are based on real life objects prototyped using such technologies. You can use a wide variety of approaches for manufacturing them.
