DSL Router with a difference - Cisco 827

Providers of DSL Routers all over the world use several features like adding fancy interfaces for the web or accessories like hubs and voice ports that are in built. They aim to make their product as much attractive and user acceptable.

Not so with the Cisco 827 DSL Router. It is a Router and acts 100% as one. Instead of diverting its attention to fancy features, this Router concentrates on its primary task of routing. You should remember that fancy features for accessing the web and built in hubs are long out dated. Most of the business entrepreneurs already have their network setup with the router plug in place to carry on their online task.

Of course the DSL 827 has minor flaws. But such flaws can easily be overlooked as they rarely affect its overall performance. This flaw is that it has one 10 Base T Ethernet connection. But then the router is meant for business and not for downloading MP3s over the nets. Thus it is aptly built and suffices for the task it has to accomplish as a business concern router.

The other flaw for this great device is that it is not as easy to configure the Cisco DSL 827 as it is for Netopia R9100, Webramp 600i or the Linskys BEFRSR41 and other used Cisco products.

They have interfaces for the web that is well laid out and the instructions are easy to follow. You have to configure the DSL 827 using the command line. To sort out this problem the manufacturers have now come up with a CD ROM that provides you with graphical user interface to configure the router.
